Hon Hai recently announced that its new global R&D center, located in the Tingpu Industrial Park of Taipei county, Taiwan, is slated for completion no later than August and expected to start operation in the fourth quarter of 2006. This new facility will serve as the hub of Hon Hai's 14 R&D centers worldwide and involve an investment of NT$12 billion (US$370 million; US$1=NT$32.4) and recruitment of 3,000 researchers. Nanotechnology, displays, and semiconductors will be the foci of this R&D center.
